Always wanted to join a Yoga class but anxious that you weren’t flexible nor strong enough? Then join Shimmy’s fun & relaxed Yoga Basics Workshop. Created for students new to Yoga and for those looking to gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental philosophy and foundational postures that a physical Yoga practice is built upon.
Combing practice, demonstration and discussion, YOGA 101 will give you the opportunity to delve into the principles of alignment that are not usually covered in a regular yoga class. You will have the chance to explore Pranayama, the method of breathing efficiently to enhance both your Asana (postures) practice and everyday life.
To seal the workshop, you will combine all the key elements through a sequence of flowing Sun Salutations, basic standing and seated postures, before preparing for Savasana (conscious relaxation) through a heart-opening backbend and a stimulating inversion.
You will leave with a better understanding of how to fully use your breath, to be in, explore and also exit postures, and more importantly understand the thread that links all the postures together, giving you the confidence to start your yoga journey.
